Don't Question Ineffability!

Oh, You Silly People

I have repeatedly come across posts where people say they are “unfollowing” someone because that someone “STOLE” stuff from the Tumblr page. This just makes me laugh. Of course, I also noticed that most of the people who are easily offended by such “thievery” tend to be people under the age of 18. Maybe there is a correlation there. Either way, most of the items posted on Tumblr pages do NOT belong to those Tumblr page owners, but to other corporations, like movie production companies, television production companies, websites, etc. Sure, you may take some pictures from your favorite movie/tv show and add text, but this doesn’t mean you now suddenly OWN those pictures and that text. You just took something that didn’t belong to you (specifically) and changed it to be more appealing to you (and your viewers, you hope). AND if someone reblogs it, it says where it’s reblogged from (even if that person removes the annoying reblog text and puts their own in that big pretty box for words). Please, get over it. It isn’t a huge deal worthy of your angry rhetoric and intense internet hate. Sometimes people don’t want several lines of text below their post listing ALL the Tumblr sites said post came from. Sometimes it’s just too much.

Either way, the point of this post is to say: Breathe. Relax. Chill. This is a fun site meant to be used to publish quick posts to share information, breaking news, amusing things, pretty pictures, and nice audio. Don’t let it get you upset. It’s really not worth the raised blood pressure and flushed skin (and two seconds it takes to unfollow someone). [Bonus: They probably don’t even care that you did unfollow them, so it’s not as if you’re getting your revenge by that small act or by defaming their name in the Tumblr presses.)

Smile. It helps.

:)

OMG, I totally just stole this from the internetz.
I hope it doesn’t unfollow me. ;D
